Redemption in Real Life: What the Woman at the Well Still Teaches Us Today

Her story wasn’t perfect, but it was powerful—and yours can be too.

There are stories in Scripture that comfort us, and others that confront us. The story of the Woman at the Well does both.

In John 4, we meet a woman who came to the well at noon—the hottest time of day—to avoid the stares and whispers of others. She carried shame, questions, and emptiness. But she left that well changed. Not because her situation immediately improved, but because she encountered Jesus in a way that healed her identity.

Her story still speaks today—especially to women who feel unseen, disqualified, or stuck in a cycle of regret.

Jesus Didn’t Avoid Her. He Chose Her.

John 4:4 says, “He had to go through Samaria.” But the truth is, He didn’t have to in a geographical sense. He chose to.

Jesus met her where she was: alone, hurting, skeptical, and stuck. He broke cultural rules to speak to her—a Samaritan, a woman, a known sinner. That one conversation didn’t just shift her thinking—it awakened her purpose.

She came for water. She left as a witness.

And not just any witness. The Bible says many believed because of her testimony (John 4:39). That means your past doesn’t disqualify your voice. It may be the very reason God use you, because of your past.

You Don’t Have to Have It All Together to Be Used by God

We often think our platform comes after we fix ourselves. But the Woman at the Well didn’t go home, clean up her life, and then start speaking. She ran back to town immediately and shared what Jesus had told her.

If you’re waiting until you feel worthy, you may be waiting forever.

But if you move forward with what you do know—that He sees you, loves you, and still calls you—then you’re already walking in purpose.

The Winners Win Experience includes powerful insights and reflections that help you do just that: stop waiting, start moving, and trust that your healing begins with honesty.

The Power of Telling the Truth

When Jesus asked about her husband, she told the truth: “I have no husband.” (John 4:17) That moment of honesty opened the door to everything else. And it’s the same for us.

You don’t have to air every detail of your life publicly, but truth—with yourself and with God—is often the first step to freedom.

That’s why Lesson 2 of the Winners Win Study Guide for Women invites you into self-reflection—not to shame you, but to give you space to name what you’ve been carrying so God can meet you there. This follows Lesson 1, which focuses on identity and encourages you to write out your God-sized dream. The reflection in Lesson 2 begins to uncover what might be standing in the way.

He’s Not in a Rush. He Stayed a While.

After their conversation, John 4:40 says Jesus stayed in Samaria for two more days.

He didn’t just give her a quick fix. He stayed.

That speaks volumes. Jesus doesn’t just want a moment with you—He wants to dwell with you. To grow with you. To walk through your seasons with you.

To help you, the Winners Win Book Bundle, The Winners Win Experience, doesn’t seek to make you feel good. It offers opportunities for you to grow. It helps you see, one insight, one revelation, and one next step at a time—to apply The Word…so you can live and prosper.

You Don’t Need to Be Perfect. You Just Need to Be Willing.

The Woman at the Well didn’t recite a long prayer. She didn’t memorize scripture. She just responded. And that’s still enough.

Whatever season you’re in, if you’re willing to respond to Jesus, He will meet you there. He already sees the fullness of who you are and still chooses to stay.

Let this be your moment at the well.
