When You Feel Spiritually Grounded But Emotionally Stuck

Have you ever found yourself in this strange place where you love God deeply, pray regularly, maybe even lead in ministry…but inside, you feel completely stuck?

You know all the right scriptures. You can encourage others beautifully. But when it comes to your own life, you feel like you're spinning your wheels, going nowhere.

Listen, you're not alone. And you're not broken into pieces.

I've been that woman who showed up for everyone else while feeling invisible to God. I've prayed, fasted, and fought to keep the faith and still felt tired. So tired.

The Truth About Being Spiritually Grounded Yet Emotionally Stuck

Sometimes our spiritual maturity can cover up our emotional needs. We think because we love God, we should be "over" our struggles. We believe that having faith means we shouldn't feel lost, uncertain, or weary. God gives us solutions for the feelings. He does not throw us away.

Because here's what I've learned through my own dark seasons: God sees you. Even when you feel unseen, especially when you feel unseen.

What "Stuck" Really Means

Being stuck doesn't mean you're faithless. It often means:

  • You're in a season of transition and don't know the next step

  • You've been carrying everyone else's burdens and lost sight of your own dreams

  • You know God has more for you but can't see the path forward

  • You feel like you're living everyone else's version of your life

The Biblical Truth About Seasons

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us there's "a time for everything under heaven." Sometimes being stuck is positioning. Sometimes the wilderness is where God does His deepest work in us.

Think about the Israelites, they weren't just wandering aimlessly for 40 years. God was preparing them, changing their mindset, getting them ready for the Promised Land. Whether they entered in or not does not change the purpose of the journey.

Three Questions to Ask Yourself:

  1. What am I carrying that isn't mine to carry? Sometimes we're stuck because we're weighed down by other people's expectations, opinions, or problems.

  2. What dreams have I buried because they seemed impossible? God-sized dreams often feel overwhelming. That's how you know they're from Him, it’s too big for you alone.

  3. What would I attempt if I knew God was with me? (Spoiler alert: He already is.)

The Prayer That Changed Everything

You don't have to have it all figured out. You just need to take the next right step. And sometimes that step is simply admitting you're stuck and asking God to show you the way forward.

Dear God, it's me. I know I'm Yours, but I'm tired. I feel spiritually grounded but emotionally stuck. Help me see what You see. Give me clarity for my next step. Remind me that being in process isn't the same as being in punishment. Amen.
